I was thrilled when a friend asked me to make her son's Christening cake. My first cake in the new kitchen! I had also made her baby shower cake months ago. She liked it so much she went with the same flavor, Chocolate Chip White cake with Chocolate Swiss Meringue Buttercream.
I was so excited to make the cake but the weather was working against me. The humidity for the past week seems like it's been 120%. Fondant just doesn't like that. It was one of those times when the cake gods just weren't smiling down on me. Don't get me wrong, I like how the cake turned out, but I had a lot of problems along the way. In the end the cake tasted amazing and my friend was happy.
